ORANGE COUNTY
Boys and Girls
Youth Lax Leagues-
OCLA: The season will run from late
March through mid June. Each program will sign up their teams with the OCLAX Registrar with a
deadline of March 1st. So if a player registered and played in
the winter, they do NOT need to register via the OCLAX. If you did NOT register
and play in the winter league, please register via OCLAX and pick your
participating team. Your team representive will contact you after
registration.
Earthquake: (formerly Shooting Starz Rec Lacrosse; EQL assumed responsibilities as
of October 1, 2007), is a boys lacrosse league played from mid-March to the end
of May.
Team Selection
Formula: 1)Group by Age, then by School or Zip Code. Players assigned to teams
based on date registered; once teams reach capacity, players will be assigned to
teams with spaces available
High
School-
Guys: After
the addition of 9 CIF sanctioned teams in the off-season, competition has
increased between schools. Teams are now competing against their "rival"
schools, and their is a lot more pride being put into each minute of play.
Predictions are tough though with the season so young, but with the 3rd Annual
“The Knights Challenge” March 7th & 8th the standings will become clearer in
the JV and Varsity levels.
Girls: Looks like the #1
teams could prevail to be #1 again this year, but with so many young programs on
the rise the #2 and #3 teams could be taking over shortly. Look for a few
upsets to happen this year.
Sat, May 10
through Sun, May 11: 2nd Annual Surf City Girls Lacrosse Tournament in Huntington Beach, CA
College-
Chapman:
Chapman has been off to
an excellent start this year with a record of 6-0. They're ranked #4 in the
MDIA Div 1 rankings, which is the highest rank they've had since the program was
started 20 years ago. Upcoming games will be exciting as opposing teams will
come out fired up to try and bump them off their pedistal.
